Tristan Toh here with another competition update.Bic,a local stationery brand is organising a 1Malaysia short story writing competiton for college and varsity students only. All you guys gotta do is to write a 1000 to 1500 short story on what 1Malaysia means to you.Cheesy I know, but bullshitting should be a skill all writers master and the prizes ain't half bad.
35 finalists will be picked from the submissions and only 5 out of them will receive the grand prize. Not only will they be the Brand Ambassadors for the company, but also receive RM300 cold hard cash,a Sheaffer Pen ridiculously worth RM85,one year supply of Bic stationery,a Philips MP3 player and a certificate to show off to scholarship and job interviewers. If you're a fame monster and would love to see your face forever associated with Bic,then this is the competition for you.
For the other 25 unfortunate people,10 will receive the Special Prize of a Philips MP3 player and certificate while the 20 consolation winners will get a hamper worth RM50 and a goddamn certificate.
Interested yet?Hold on,there are some terms and conditions.Your submission must be HAND-WRITTEN ON A PIECE OF FOOLSCAP PAPER WITH BLUE OR BLACK INK ONLY.Good news for technophobe Luddites, bad for computer addicts. The short story must be submitted with a copy of the entry form, which can be downloaded here .They can be dropped off either at your college's Student Affairs Department or snail mailed to the address found on the entry form.Deadline's June the 3rd,so you guys can procrastinate a bit,but mark your calendar just in case you leave it aside for too long and forgotten all about it.Winners will be contacted and announced in the July issue of Campus Plus magazine.Losers don't get contacted,so do check up on the mag if you can get your hands on a copy.
However, please note that there will only be 4 Grand Prize slots in contention. One is already earmarked for me,suckers.
